For an experience that had a lasting impression on all of us – 10th and 12th graders, we sat on the bus and embarked on a journey to Koti, a small village located in the Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. It is known for its scenic beauty and is a popular tourist destination for adventure enthusiasts. We were all looking forward to the adventure that lay ahead while enjoying the beautiful sights of mountains and nature during the journey.
After reaching our resort, ‘Snow Trails’, we were greeted with snacks. Then, we were assigned rooms and had much-needed rest after a long journey. Later, they were briefed about the activities planned for the next day while enjoying dinner, and with excitement building up, they retired to bed a little late.
The next morning, we woke up early and went trekking to the top of a hill. Koti has an altitude of 2,100 metres and is surrounded by lush green forests, making it an ideal place for trekking, hiking, and camping. We took in the breathtaking views of the mountains and created flags to commemorate the moment. We even cooked Maggi noodles using the natural resources available to us. In the evening, we tried our hands at rappelling, and after dinner, we danced the night away at the DJ party. We all felt a great sense of accomplishment and joy after the day’s events.
The following day, we went for a trek in Chail, a nearby hill station, which was once the summer capital of the princely state of Patiala. We got to know that Chail is also home to the world’s highest cricket ground, located at an altitude of 2,444 metres above sea level. We also learnt valuable survival skills in the mountains and about the lifestyle of local people. The day ended with prize distribution and sharing our experience of this trip with our group.
During the trip, we learnt many life lessons, including punctuality and minimalist and simple living. This trip to Koti and Chail was a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation. We are grateful to EdTerra Edventures for giving us this opportunity to learn, grow, and create memories that will last a lifetime.
