Yelagiri is a wonderful hill station in Tamil Nadu, located in the Eastern Ghats at an altitude of about 1,400 m above sea level. Surrounded by lush greenery, it is known for its pleasant climate, rich flora and fauna, and peaceful atmosphere. As we travelled up the hill, we crossed the famous fourteen hairpin bends, each named after renowned Tamil poets, kings, and literary figures such as Thiruvalluvar and Pari Valaivu. It was interesting to learn how these names reflected the region’s rich literary and cultural heritage.

One of the most exciting places we visited was Fundera Park, where we observed a variety of exotic animal and bird species. It gave us a wonderful opportunity to learn about wildlife while appreciating the importance of protecting different species and their habitats. Throughout our visit, we were reminded not to litter or disturb the animals, helping us understand our responsibility towards wildlife conservation.

Another memorable experience was at Selfie Panda, where we participated in hands-on activities such as making chocolates, soaps, and perfumes. We learnt how these products are made from scratch, making the experience both enjoyable and educational. These activities allowed us to understand the process behind everyday products while encouraging creativity and practical learning. Our visit to Yelagiri taught us much more than facts about a hill station. We learnt about nature, wildlife conservation, culture, and the geographical significance of the region through real experiences. It was a journey that combined learning with enjoyment and left us with wonderful memories. Yelagiri is truly a place that deserves a place on everyone’s bucket list.
