With its inspiring scenery, cool climate, exciting adventures, and plenty of souvenirs to shop for, Kodaikanal could easily become one’s next favourite destination. One of the places we visited in Kodaikanal was Bryant Park, known for its beautiful surroundings and variety of roses. We were amazed to see a eucalyptus tree said to be nearly 175 years old. Clicking pictures with our friends amidst the greenery made the experience memorable.

Another fascinating place was Guna Caves, formerly known as Devil’s Kitchen because of its deep and mysterious cave formations. It became popularly known as Guna Caves after being featured in the 1991 Tamil film Gunaa, starring Kamal Haasan. Looking at the caves from a safe distance made us wonder about their depth, mystery, and the fascination of their appeal. Our visit to the Kodaikanal Solar Observatory was also an interesting learning experience. Established in 1899 at about 2,343 metres above sea level, it has a long history of studying the Sun. We learnt about sunspots, solar flares, and the use of special filters for safe solar observation.

At Kodaikanal Lake, spread across around 60 acres, we enjoyed the surroundings and learnt about activities such as boating and cycling. Dolphin’s Nose was another memorable stop, offering views of deep valleys and rolling hills. Throughout our journey, we experienced excitement, curiosity, and a sense of responsibility towards our surroundings. We built new friendships and gained learning experiences beyond the classroom. A campfire with music and dance brought everyone together and added to our memories.

Overall, our Kodaikanal journey was filled with learning, adventure, laughter, and unforgettable experiences. The EdTerra team supported and guided us throughout, making the journey even more meaningful.
