Hello, everyone! Do you know about the magnificent monument in Agra? Wait, I’ll give you a hint. It is one of the Seven Wonders of the world. Did you guess it? If not, then keep on reading our blog.
This enormous monument was built by Shah Jahan in the memory of his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal who died giving birth to their 14th child. The construction of the monument was started in 1632. Shah Jahan called various professionals from different parts of the world. It took him 22 years to complete the monument with the help of nearly 20,000 workers from India, Persia, the Ottoman Empire and Europe. This monument is 240 feet tall and about 3 feet taller than Qutub Minar and is situated at the bank of river Yamuna. The Taj Mahal complex has three gates and to enter the visitors need to use the western or eastern gate. The Taj Mahal has four minarets at the corners of the raised platform on which it is situated. These minarets are symmetrical and tilted outwards. The Taj Mahal has chattris with guldastas and arch shaped windows. It has pietra dura designs made on marble with semi-precious stones. There are 16 gardens in the Taj Mahal complex.
Did you guess the magnificent monument? If your answer is Taj Mahal, then you are right. If your answer was something else then try again. I hope you found the information relevant.
