At 10 o’clock in the morning, our bus came to a halt in front of the magnificent Amber Fort. We stepped off, filled with excitement as we gazed upon the majestic structure that awaited us. “So, dear friends, let’s go and explore the fort!” we exclaimed, eager to immerse ourselves in its rich history.
Amber Fort, built in 1592 by Raja Man Singh, is also known as Amer Fort. The fort showcases a stunning blend of Mughal and Hindu architectural designs. We learnt that a massive wall, stretching around 10 kilometres, was constructed to protect this historic site. Climbing the 690 stairs felt like a journey through time, and we marvelled at the countless visitors who flock to Amber Fort every day. One of the highlights was the Sheesh Mahal, a breathtaking hall adorned with mirrors. As we explored further, we discovered that there were three types of rooms designed specifically for summer, winter, and monsoon. We were fascinated to hear stories of the kings who once ruled here, including one Raja who stood over seven feet tall! It was hard to imagine the effort that went into creating special clothes just for him.
In an era without air conditioning, the fort’s builders designed cool rooms to combat the heat. The materials used such as sandstone and marble added to the fort’s splendour. We left the Amber Fort with a deep appreciation for the past and carrying memories of this incredible journey with us.
