When we started our journey, we were extremely nervous about travelling to a foreign country. We were highly unsure of adjusting to a new environment. However, the Language Immersion Program with EdTerra inspired us to explore British culture and encouraged us to come out of our comfort zones.
Our travel itinerary included several places such as Blists Hill Victorian Town, Stratford-upon-Avon, and the University of Cambridge. During our journey, we got acquainted with different aspects of British culture as we travelled from one destination to another. We even tried some traditional British dishes that we had not heard of before.
The Ironbridge Gorge provides a peek into the British way of life at the time of the Industrial Revolution. Of all the museums situated there, Blists Hill Victorian Town attracts the maximum number of visitors. Blists Hill is essentially a re-creation of a small industrial town from the Victorian era. It provided a glimpse into the lives of people in a British industrial town from Victorian times. We also met shopkeepers who were dressed in Victorian-era attire.
On our trip to Stratford-upon-Avon, we visited the birthplace of William Shakespeare, the renowned poet and playwright. We were impatiently waiting to see the place where Shakespeare was born and spent most of his life. We were delighted to see the houses and cottages where Shakespeare and his close family members lived. This trip to Stratford was extraordinary as its old British structures looked charming in the midst of modern buildings.
Next, we visited the University of Cambridge and were amazed to see the beautiful environs of the campus. We also went to some souvenir shops for buying mementoes that we could take back with us. A visit to the Rugby School was another thrilling and joyful experience. In fact, attending classes here was the best part of our journey. We made new friends from other parts of the world.
We travelled for just eight days but the memories will stay with us forever. This journey to different parts of the UK helped us improve our spoken English. We also received great advice and suggestions on enhancing our communication skills. We were taught the basic skills required for performing on stage.
We are thankful to EdTerra for giving us the opportunity of attending the Language Immersion Program. It was the most exciting trip of our lives.
