Mussoorie, popularly known as the ‘Queen of the Hills’, is celebrated for its mist-covered mountains, picturesque landscapes, and pleasant climate. Beyond its natural beauty, the hill station offers a rich experience of local culture through its bustling markets, traditional cuisine, and historical landmarks.

Situated at an altitude of approximately 2,000 metres above sea level, Mussoorie has several interesting places to visit, including the famous Mall Road. One of its notable landmarks is the Cambridge Book Depot, where renowned author Ruskin Bond regularly met his readers on Saturdays for many years. The local markets offer a variety of handicrafts, souvenirs, and woollen garments at reasonable prices. Mussoorie’s delicious momos are also a popular comfort food, especially in the cold mountain weather.

George Everest’s House and the surrounding hilltop are other prominent attractions. The site is named after Sir George Everest, a British surveyor who served as Surveyor General of India and contributed to the Great Trigonometrical Survey. The picturesque views of the surrounding mountains and valleys from the summit are sights that will remain in our memories for years to come. The trek towards the summit was equally enjoyable, offering several opportunities to admire the natural surroundings and appreciate the beauty of the Himalayas. Our visit to Mussoorie was a memorable experience that brought together nature, history, and local culture. From the peaceful mountain landscapes to the bustling markets and the rewarding trek, every experience gave us a deeper appreciation of this beautiful hill station.
