The city of Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh is famously known as the winter paradise of India. The lush green mountains, colourful lodges along with thrilling activities in Kufri, the solace Shimla offers can surely bring out the traveller in all of us.

Shimla was founded by the British in 1819 after the Gorkha War and was turned into a summer capital by 1864. On our first day in Shimla, we spent our time go-karting and enjoying other adventure sports such as zip lining, monkey crawling, and rope climbing. For the rest of the day, we enjoyed the company of our peers at the LaRiSa Resort. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation with stunning views of the city.

Our second day at Shimla began with sightseeing and exploring the city’s various attractions. We visited the Ridge Road, a beautiful place offering panoramic views of the city. Next, we visited the Mall Road in Shimla which is a perfect place for shopping with various eateries. One of the oldest churches in Northern India, the Christ Church is located near the Mall Road. Built in 1857, the Church mesmerised us with its architecture and its colonial roots. The sight of the Viceregal Lodge was unforgettable for us. Located on the Observatory Hill in Shimla, it was built in 1888 and served as a residence for the Viceroy of India. The lodge is also famous for its role as the venue for the Shimla Conference of 1945. The lodge was repurposed for the Indian Institute of Advanced Study.

This marked the end of our journey to Shimla. We had an unforgettable experience filled with scenic and rich beauty. The average temperatures in Shimla ranged between 16-25 degrees Celsius in October. Sweaters and jackets were only necessary during late nights and early mornings. Thanks to the positive mindset and enthusiasm of our team, we were able to enjoy our trip to Shimla, a destination worth visiting.
