A unique world of nature can be found at Jim Corbett National Park. Jim Corbett National Park was the first national park to be formed in India. It is a protected forest area intended to conserve the rich flora and fauna found here. This includes species like tiger, leopard, rhesus monkey, sal, rohini, and bakli. Further, about 600 species and subspecies of birds such as pheasant, hornbill and lark are also found here.

The breathtaking beauty of this park fascinated travellers, inspiring them to come and explore Jim Corbett National Park. Whether it is the view of the mountains or the jungle safari, the beauty of this place never fails to impress. During our journey to Jim Corbett National Park, we visited the Girija Devi Temple on the banks of Kosi river, and of course, went on a jungle safari.

Jim Corbett National Park is located in Nainital district of Uttarakhand and was established in 1936 during the British Raj. When the park was formed, it was named Hailey National park after William Malcolm Hailey, a governor of the United Provinces. It was renamed to Ramganga National Park briefly during 1954-1955. It was again retitled as Jim Corbett National Park in 1956 after Jim Corbett, a hunter and naturalist who dedicated his life to the conservation of wildlife. The park is one of the 13 protected areas covered by the World Wide Fund for Nature under their Terai Arc Landscape program. During World War II, the park witnessed excessive poaching and timber cutting. But today, it is one of the best preserved national parks in India.

Our days went by quickly and were packed with activities. The journey was lovely. It was hectic but fun. The views were gorgeous and we clicked many photos. Therefore, at least once in life, we urge everyone to visit Jim Corbett National Park.
