Ranthambore is famous for many things, especially its wildlife and natural beauty. After visiting Ranthambore, we, the students of Springdales School, would like to share our thoughts on the topic of poaching and hunting. We seek to highlight the importance of conserving wildlife for the betterment of nature and our future.
Poaching is a global issue. Many organisations, such as the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), have worked together for wildlife protection in various countries. WWF has also identified many ecological zones as hotspots.
Ranthambore is a well known national park and tiger reserve. The tiger population in the protected area of Ranthambore saw a rise in numbers due to the restrictions imposed by the government on poaching for their skin, teeth, and claws. Such poached items hold high monetary value in the market. Through our journey, we learnt that conserving wildlife is important because all creatures have the equal right to live in nature. Animals also have families and emotions, and humans have no right to kill them. We have to respect and protect nature as we are dependent on nature for food, water, and survival. Our guide also told us about a few conservation projects in India such as Project Tiger, Project Elephant, and Project Snow Leopard.
We learnt that by killing wildlife, we are destroying our own future. The people of Ranthambore have worked hard to earn a living and to survive. We must contribute towards helping and conserving the rich biodiversity of Ranthambore. Ultimately, if there is no wildlife, there will be no humans.
