We would like to begin this blog by emphasising that India is a diverse place where birds, animals, and, of course, humans call home. However, due to human interference in natural phenomena, such as poaching, challenges arise. Despite this, India is a country that is rich in biodiversity and conservation efforts are being made to preserve it. Our trip to Jim Corbett was a great example of how people are working to protect these habitats and their inhabitants. It was an experience we will never forget.
Jim Corbett was a noble man and a naturalist who made significant contributions to conserving tigers and more. Initially known as Hailey Park, Corbett Park underwent a name change after the British left. The experience of encountering tigers was remarkable and intriguing. Although we didn’t see any tigers, the sight of their paw prints alone left us in awe.
The tiger reserve offered sightings of various animals, including deer, porcupines, mongooses, elephants, and numerous birds. It was a wonderful and memorable experience for us. The lunch at the Haveli was one of the best parts. Above all, I want to express gratitude to Oakridge and EdTerra for providing us with this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Venturing out in a thrilling atmosphere with friends and teachers was an unforgettable experience.
Throughout the trip, we witnessed a great deal. We realised the immense diversity of India, from different types of animals to languages spoken. With over 1350 species of birds in India, Uttarakhand alone boasts more than 750, which is more than half of the total.
