Jaipur is adorned by a large number of lakes, gardens and forts. The Amber Fort is a century older than the magnificent pink city. It is located at a distance of about eleven kilometres from the main city of Jaipur, the present day capital of Rajasthan. The fort is situated on the Aravalli Range, which acts as a protective shield for the fort’s outer structure. The fort is known for its richness and culture. It was built with pale yellow, pink sandstone and white marble.
marble. It has the world’s third largest fortification. The fort is divided into four sections and courtyards. It also has some underground tunnels that connect the Amber Fort to Jaigarh Fort. The fort has two important entrances, one from Dalaram’s garden, Suraj Pol and the other from the town side, Chand Pol.
The construction of Amber Fort, which began in the 11th century, took nearly a hundred years to complete. The town of Amber and Amber Fort was originally built by Raja Man Singh while certain modifications were made by Sawai Jai Singh. Such modifications continued for one hundred and fifty more years until they shifted their capital to Jaipur. When you set your first few steps into the fort of Amber, you will be greeted by wonderful smiles selling small packets of souvenirs. Your eyes will be casted on the alluring carvings made on the marbled walls.
EdTerra Edventures made our journey extremely informative and comfortable. It was a joy to see Jaipur from their eyes. We hope you can also experience their casting spell.
