Jaisalmer is a place where history comes alive. One can actually spend days unearthing its glorious past and legacy. Not only is Jaisalmer known for its majestic forts and palaces but also for its rich traditions. On our school trip to Jaisalmer, we enjoyed visiting historical monuments besides indulging in a few adventurous activities.
On the first day, we went for a desert safari. The experience was amazing and it was the best part of our trip. We enjoyed the fascinating view of the vast desert landscape. We also got a chance to experience typical Rajasthani culture. We slept inside makeshift tents at the desert camp.
Next day, we visited Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Qila. While walking around the fort-complex we learnt about various strategies adopted by the rulers to protect their royal quarters from enemy attack. Another place that we visited in Jaisalmer was Kuldhara Village. The small town is believed to have been cursed. It was abandoned in the 19th century. A number of scholars have attempted to explain the abandonment but none of the theories have been verified. The village has some historical ruins and it looked extremely deserted.
Our trip to Jodhpur and Jaisalmer was fabulous. We learnt about different facets of Rajasthan’s history, culture, and architecture. In conclusion, we would like to recommend that every student should visit these cities because its monuments tell unique stories and its people never fail to impress.
