Our journey to Mysore Palace turned out to be an exciting experience filled with royal history, colour, and architectural beauty. As students in Grades VII and VIII, we were amazed by the grandeur of the palace and eager to explore its magnificent interiors. Built between 1897 and 1912, the palace served as the residence of the Wadiyar dynasty, the former rulers of Mysore.

Upon arriving at the palace, we were impressed by its magnificent architecture and beautifully maintained surroundings. Before entering, we removed our shoes as required to help preserve the palace interiors. Our guides led us through its enormous halls, where we admired the colourful stained-glass ceilings, decorative pillars, and intricate artwork. We were particularly fascinated by the golden decorations and the impressive Durbar Hall, where royal ceremonies once took place. The palace’s grand ceilings and richly decorated walls reflected the artistic craftsmanship of the period. We also observed a preserved elephant head and distinctive pieces of furniture that offered interesting insights into the royal lifestyle. Every section of the palace revealed something unique about its history and cultural significance.

Our visit gave us a fascinating glimpse into the lifestyle, architecture, and traditions of Mysore’s former royal family. We learnt that the palace is illuminated with thousands of lights on special evenings, highlighting its magnificent architecture. Exploring its beautifully decorated interiors helped us appreciate the artistic traditions and historical importance of the Wadiyar dynasty. We also captured several photographs of the palace’s impressive exterior to preserve our memories. This visit was an enriching educational experience that deepened our understanding of Mysore’s royal heritage and became one of the most memorable parts of our journey.
