Visiting the Wagah Border in Amritsar was one of the most thrilling and patriotic experiences of our lives. This border crossing between India and Pakistan is famous for its daily Beating Retreat Ceremony. On 11 October 1947, Brigadier Mohinder Singh Chopra and Brigadier Nazir Ahmed initiated the ceremony.

As we approached the venue, the atmosphere was filled with energy and excitement. The crowd was loud, cheerful, and full of patriotism. It felt less like a border and more like a grand celebration of unity and love for the nation. Soldiers from the Border Security Force (BSF) guided the crowd into the stands, ensuring everything was well-organised and smooth. We also learnt that the BSF is mainly responsible for guarding India’s borders with Pakistan and Bangladesh.

When the ceremony began, the sight of the tall, proud BSF soldiers marching in perfect synchronisation sent chills down our spines. Their powerful stomps, crisp salutes, and fierce expressions reflected the strength and discipline of our armed forces. The Pakistani side also displayed good skills and coordination, creating an atmosphere of friendly yet intense competition. Watching both sides perform with such precision and pride was truly an unforgettable experience.

In conclusion, our visit to the Wagah Border was more than just watching a ceremony, it was a moment of pride, unity, and deep emotion. It reminded us of the courage and dedication of the soldiers who protect our nation every single day.
