To the north of our city and city life — monotonous and busy — there lies amongst the clouds a small town by the name of Maletha. It has steep cliffs and the most picturesque landscapes. The Alaknanda river had fierce and gushing waters but felt peaceful. I had the opportunity to visit this heaven.
We set up our camp late at night. The breeze was cool, and the ambience was peaceful yet chaotic. The chirp of the crickets merged with the buzz of excitement in the air. The weather was a relief from the strenuous heat of the city. Though the temperature there wasn’t extreme, I
would recommend full sleeves, jackets, and rainwear. We couldn’t wait to admire the view the next day. We woke up to a calm morning. The view was breathtaking. The scenic sculptures were indescribable. Still in awe, we proceeded for a survival class. Though a bit boring, it felt useful and essential. Soon after, came the highlight, the trek.
To accompany the natural experience, Maletha has a unique and heartwarming story. It tells the story about a determined person named Madho Singh Bhandari who sacrificed his son to bring water to Maletha after ages of drought.
If someone wishes to visit hills, the quiet and peaceful Maletha is such a destination. So don’t forget to visit Maletha.
