Situated in the deep forests of Nainital district of Uttarakhand, Jim Corbett National Park was Asia’s first national park in India. It was established in 1936 as Hailey National Park, named after Sir Malcolm Hailey. After independence, it was renamed Ramganga National Park before finally taking the name of Jim Corbett National Park in 1956.

Edward James “Jim” Corbett was a British-Indian naturalist, author, and hunter. He detailed his experiences in his bestselling 1944 memoir called “Man-Eaters of Kumaon.” Corbett National Park also launched Project Tiger in 1973 to safeguard the most endangered species and the National Animal of India. It is now home to the world’s highest density of tigers. Spread across 521 square kilometres of area, the reserve includes varied safari regions like Bijrani, Dhikala, Jhirna, and Dhela etc.

Besides its rich flora and fauna and stunning landscapes, Corbett National Park also stands as a beacon of hope for nature and wildlife lovers. This trip was a unique learning experience that sparked our curiosity. The main highlight was the educational sessions organised by our Journey Mentors to teach us astrophysics and astronomy in an interesting manner, especially the astro quiz at the end. We recorded and shared our experiences throughout the journey. Although the schedule was packed and tiring, it offered a perfect getaway right after our exams. The visit enhanced our overall knowledge in many areas such as wildlife conservation, the solar system, etc. For anyone seeking an unforgettable experience along with great food and dedicated mentors, this trip is an absolute recommendation!
