Learning to Dare and Other Stories from Our EdTerra Camp

Not everyday you get an opportunity to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone. The second day of our camp was exactly that for each one of us as we came across activities that challenged us to showcase our adventurous spirits. The activities included rappelling, zipline and a rope course. The day kick-started with rappelling from the height of 23 feet from a hill. We were sent as a group of 5 students each. With us being divided into 5 teams,

we uplifted our team spirits and motivated not just ourselves but also our teammates to step up and accept the challenge. Many of us tried to mask our fear but some showcased their insecurities nonetheless. All of us, despite what we thought, somehow were very scared to get up there and showcase our fearful side. Whatever might be the consequences, we decided to face it head on.

While many also whined on the edge, they did not step back and accepted the challenge. This hurdle was surpassed successfully. Next up, we had the zip line. Even if it was high, it felt as effortless as possible. It made us feel like a free bird. Soon after, we started with the rope course. It did not only challenge our core, but also our mental strength. The feeling of fulfillment after all the obstacles was unmatchable.

Though these were just 5 hours of our day, we learnt the most important lesson: our dares and our fears make us conquer the world, whether it be big or small, simple or complex, we are who we aspire to be, that is a better version of ourselves, everyday!
