We were mesmerised as we stepped into the world of Amber Fort, an architectural gem nestled in the heart of Rajasthan, India. With its rich history and stunning design, this majestic fortress invites visitors to embark on a journey through time.
Amber Fort, also known as Amer Fort, stands as a testament to the opulence of Rajasthan’s royal past. Built with red sandstone and marble, its walls bear intricate carvings and delicate mirror work, showcasing the craftsmanship of its artisans. The fort’s Sheesh Mahal, or Hall of Mirrors, is a sight to behold, with walls adorned with countless pieces of reflective glass that create a dazzling sight effect when sunlight filters through. Additionally, the Diwan-i-Khas, or hall of private audience, boasts exquisite marble detailing, reflecting the grandeur of Mughal architecture. We stood in awe of these wondrous buildings and their history.
Perched atop a hill, Amber Fort offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes, including the tranquil Morta lake. Visitors can explore its labyrinthine passages and courtyards on foot, or opt for an elephant ride, adding an element of adventure to their visit.
Amber Fort stands as a captivating blend of history, art and natural beauty. Its architectural marvels and scenic vistas made it a memorable destination for us, as we immersed ourselves in the splendour of Rajasthan’s royal heritage.
