During our camping adventure at Koti, we learnt a lot of practical information that is necessary to survive in the wild, such as how to obtain food and water, how to build a shelter, and how to build mental toughness and adaptability. The activities prepared us for future life challenges.

We learnt that a cautious mindset is very crucial for truly enjoying the adventure in the wild. In the wild, overcoming obstacles, working through problems, the beauty of images, and appreciating a simple lifestyle are all important ways to develop our character. It’s about learning to be independent, patient, and to have a great regard for the environment.

We also learnt how to do basic first aid. First aid is actually an abbreviation that refers to First Investigation, Relief, Symptom, Treatment, Arrangement, Immediately, Disposal. First aid is a very important instant treatment that can help save someone’s lives. We learnt how to stay calm in tough situations when injuries might occur. We were introduced to the LNT principles, which stand for Leaving No Trace when we explore the wilderness. These rules are taught to not only survive but also enjoy our experience. The LNT principles showed us how we should respect animals and other hikers.

The EdTerra team helped us experience various wonderful adventures and activities, including trekking. We also learnt how the buddy system is important during trekking as it ensures that we have each other’s backs. The camp helped us build our character and improve our leadership skills.
