On 10th October, 2024, the hostellers of Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj assembled in front of our hostels. We were looking forward to some of the most eventful days of our hostel life by going on ‘The Hostel Trip’ together. At 5.30 AM, we boarded our buses and began our journey to the famous Jim Corbett National Park in Ramnagar, Uttarakhand which was about five hours away from Delhi.

Everyone was buzzing with excitement as we boarded the bus, chittering and chattering with each other or falling asleep on each other’s shoulders, like friends do. For the first hour or so, the bus was silent, almost peaceful. The trip was meant to be a getaway from the monotonous schedule, and indeed, it proved to be a big refreshment.

At around 9.30 AM, we took a short break to have a scrumptious breakfast which immediately put all of us in a good mood. Settling back into our respective buses, we danced and sang our way to the resort. We stayed in Hotel De Caracas, a four star hotel with an integrated playground, swimming pool, and a game room. Some activities that were planned for us took up most of the first day. At night, everyone got dressed up for the disco. As we danced, no one noticed when the day sank into night.

The anticipation of the next day ended quickly as everyone left to explore in and around the National Park, after devouring a hearty breakfast. The first place to visit was the auspicious temple of Girija Devi, near the bank of river Kosi. We clicked hundreds of pictures near the river bank, and perhaps thousands of memories were made. Following this, we went for the museum tour, which proved to be the highlight of the day as we came to know about the life story of Jim Corbett. We also went for a Safari which was refreshing and we were lucky enough to spot a python. Following the safari we got to enjoy the disco night which was so full of fun that no one wanted to leave the dance floor, not even to eat! The trip didn’t last forever, but it’s beautiful memories, always will.
