Ranthambore and Wildlife Poaching

Ranthambore is well known for its national park and fort. The historic Ranthambore Fort is one of the most famous forts of Rajasthan. It was built by the Chauhan rulers in the 10th century. The Ranthambore National Park is the most famous tourist attraction in Ranthambore National Park. It consists of 315 species of birds (resident and migratory), 38 species of mammals, 11 species of reptiles and 10 species of fish. We found that there are three main animals found in this national park. These animals are tigers, leopards and sloth bears. Other animals in this park are caracal, jungle cat, sambar, chital, chinkara, wild boar etc.

Although Ranthambore National Park is rich in flora and fauna, the park has witnessed serious issues related to wildlife poaching in the past. It was used as hunting grounds jointly by Britishers and Rajputs in the early 19th century.

Poaching has now been banned by the government of India. The Ranthambore National Park was declared a tiger reserve along with eight other sanctuaries and national parks in 1973.

We believe that stricter actions must be taken to save tigers and other wildlife animals. Raising awareness about the decreasing population of tigers can be one of the effective ways to do so. It is our duty to protect these animals and their habitat. People should not kill them for their greed. Being responsible citizens, it becomes our duty to save the environment. If we all make small efforts to save the forests, the world will change a lot.
