On our journey to Europe, we went to Engelberg and visited Mt. Titlis. It was one of the most awaited destinations of our itinerary. It was a one and a half hour drive from Zurich to Engelberg. We were completely awestruck by the views on the way and the moment we reached there, we got stunned to see the beauty around us.
We were a group of 14 students and two teachers, and we were all enthralled by the bewildering beauty of the Swiss Alps. The stupendous and magnificent mountains posed a breathtaking view. Further, the cable car ride to the top of the mountain gave us a chance to appreciate a few of the picturesque views of the Engelberg city and the snow-covered mountains.
A set of different cable cars connect to the three stages of the Titlis namely; Trubsee, Stand, and Summit. This cable car service first began in the year 1912 and could accommodate only four people at a time. Later, in the 90s, the capacity of the cars got increased to 6 passengers. But with time and development, now even the small cable cars can accommodate 8 passengers while the bigger ones can carry 75 people in one go. The cable car that took us to the summit was a revolving cable car, Rotair. It is the world’s first revolving gondola that turns 360°. At Summit, exploring the Glacier Cave was an experience of a lifetime. The Ice Flyer ride gave us an aerial view of the snow capped mountains and we enjoyed the alpine air and scenic views. On the other hand, the Cliff Walk awoke the adventurer in us. It was a heart-thumping experience.
At approximately 10,000 feet above sea level, it was a mesmerizing experience to encounter the chilly and brazen winds. There was happiness and excitement as we played with snow. It seemed, as if we had reached the top of the world.
It was an experience of a lifetime and we really wish to come back to this wonderful and exquisite mountain in the Swiss Alps. If asked to rate on a scale of one to ten, we would rate this trip to Mount Titlis a full 10/10.
