Kanatal is located in Uttarakhand and is famous for its scenic beauty. Its excellent climate adds to its allure. It serves as a perfect destination for sightseeing. Being away from the chaos, it provides a tranquil atmosphere.

During our time at the camp, the Journey Mentors imparted valuable survival skills, such as constructing different types of shelters. Some attention grabbing catchphrases used by them were “Yo Yo Yo!” and “Yo, what’s up?” – these added a cool and engaging touch to our interactions. Some simple yet essential principles of Leave No Trace (LNT) that we learnt are:

  1. Plan ahead and prepare before heading to the camp.
  2. Never leave a campfire unattended to prevent potential spreading.
  3. Practice proper waste management by cleaning up before leaving.

Divided into teams of three, we were named ‘Chargers’. We liked playing team coordination games. These instilled in us the importance of teamwork, dedication and effective task delegation. The food was incredibly delicious, and the picturesque views added to our delight. One of the greatest benefits of the experience was that we learnt to step out of our comfort zones and got the chance to truly be ourselves.

One of the highlights of our trip was the exhilarating adventure at “Camp Little Jaguar,” located just two kilometres away from our camp. The activities offered there helped us conquer our fears and provided an unforgettable experience. Overall, our camping adventure in Kanatal was filled with excitement, cherished memories and an extraordinary ambiance that will surely make one forget about his phone.
