We went on a school trip to Sariska Tiger Reserve, a place where the forest teaches you to listen. Some places are not meant to be rushed through, and Sariska is one of them. A visit to Sariska felt like stepping into nature’s quiet and timeless rhythm. We came to know that Sariska is located in the Aravalli Hills of Rajasthan and is famous for its wildlife and rich history.

Long before sunlight claims the sky, the tiger reserve comes alive. In the afternoon, we went on a jungle safari. It felt like entering a different realm, untouched, mysterious, and breathtaking. A light mist covered the tall trees, and the forest echoed with the sounds of birds, which added a perfect melody to our chatter. Our guide told us that Sariska is home to many animals such as deer, monkeys, birds, and tigers.

One of the most fascinating places we visited was Kankwari Fort, which rises from the buffer zone of the reserve. The fort stands like a guardian watching over the surrounding rural area. The guide told us that the fort was built in 1611 by Maharaja Jai Singh of Amber. We also learnt that the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb imprisoned his elder brother, Dara Shikoh, in the Kankwari Fort in the late 17th century.

A nature walk to the nearby village offered us insight into the elegant, rural simplicity. The simple, earth-toned houses and open surroundings showed us the beauty of rural life. We loved the fact that the villagers lived close to nature. Our evenings at Sariska were filled with games, laughter, and joyful moments with friends, which lifted everyone’s mood. Visiting Sariska helped us learn about nature, history, and togetherness. It is a place where memories leave an imprint long after the journey ends.
