We embarked on an exciting journey to visit the famous Amer Fort. This blog shares our experience and focuses on providing you with a guide and some hacks that will make your visit to Amer Fort more fun and extraordinary.

Amer Fort is located in Amer town of Rajasthan, just 11 kilometres from Jaipur, the current capital of the state. It was originally built by Raja Man Singh in the 16th century. Constructed in red sand stone and white marble, the fort highlights the extraordinary combination of Rajput and Mughal architecture. The fort was used as a residential palace for Rajput royals. Walking around the fort, we could imagine what life must have been like for the kings and queens who lived here. We heard many fascinating stories of Amer Fort and learnt about the history of such a formidable fort.

The fort has six main sections and each of them have their own main entrance gate. The most important of these gates was the Suraj Pol (Sun Gate). The fort also had many gardens and courtyards. Other important buildings within the fort include Diwan-E-Aam, Diwan-E-Khas, Sheesh Mahal, and the Sukh Niwas. We were mesmerised by the Sheesh Mahal whose walls were covered in thousands of tiny mirrors. It looked extraordinary and we felt like we were seeing stars!

Overall, our experience was quite fun and enjoyable. But precautions still need to be taken. We suggest that you wear your sunscreen and make sure you have enough water. You might also enjoy buying souvenirs and artefacts from the local vendors.
