My supercharged learning at the Kennedy Space Center

In the course of my educational trip to the USA, I went to the Kennedy Space Center for two consecutive days. It was absolutely a delightful learning experience. Let me take this opportunity of narrating my experience in detail.

On the first day, we visited the Heroes & Legends exhibition inside the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. There was a long queue for people to go inside when we got there. This was followed by lunch with an astronaut. We met an astronaut named Dan Tani who had been to space thrice. While interacting with him, I learnt about astronauts’ lives in space — how they ate, slept, and used washrooms. Thereafter, I went back to the Heroes & Legends exhibition along with my friends and there was a much lesser crowd there.

Next day, I went shopping with my friends and teachers. On the second day of my visit to the Kennedy Space Center, we went for a bus tour of the facility. Kurt and Arthur helped us to know about different buildings inside the huge complex.

Later, we went to Apollo Center and saw many interesting exhibits. Most importantly, I saw Saturn V, the rocket which was used to launch the Apollo 11 mission. I picked some NASA merchandise from a souvenir shop as well. Then, it was time to explore the Space Shuttle Atlantis Zone. I got to know that Atlantis space shuttle orbiter had been used to transport humans to space and back to earth for about 30 years. The most exciting part of my visit came at the end. It was the shuttle launch experience. Although it was exciting, I felt scared at times because I was sitting in the front row.

Overall, my trip to the USA and especially, the time I spent at the Kennedy Space Center, was extraordinary. I am glad that I did not miss this experience.
