We would like to start our blog by stating facts about one of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Taj Mahal. We are going to give you an in-depth description of the Taj Mahal from our point of view. The Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal emperor, Shah Jahan in 1632, and it took over twenty two years to be constructed. It is situated in the eastern part of Agra and on the southern bank of the Yamuna. It is not an ordinary monument as it symbolises the undying love of an emperor for his wife. Shah Jahan had three wives but it is said that his favourite one was Mumtaz Mahal.
After she died, Shah Jahan decided to build a tomb in her memory, which was called the Taj Mahal. Its architecture is truly one of its kind and is a blend of Indian, Persian and Islamic styles. It has three entrance gates, namely the East, West and South gates. The West Gate is the main entrance gate. The walls of the Taj Mahal are embellished with precious and semi-precious stones and inscriptions of the holy Quran. It looks like the letters are of the same size but they are actually not. It is an optical illusion. They are smaller at the bottom and larger at the top.
We are pretty sure that after reading this, you would want to witness this beauty yourself and if you do, you will know why the Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
