Bhutan is a beautiful place consisting of a number of museums, statues and monuments of great historic importance. Its beauty is magnified by great architectural structures, spread over this small nation, one of them being the Buddha Dordenma. Sitting on an arid mountainside of Bhutan, it provides a glimpse into the vast realms of Buddhism.

As soon as one steps inside the gates of the meditation hall devoted to Buddha, one can feel a strong gust of wind, which lures towards the statue. The ethnicity of the place makes you appreciate Bhutan and its culture even more, admiring the amount of work that went into the making of the statue. This 169 feet, enormous gold plated bronze statue, took nine years to bless us with all its heart. There are 100,000 8-inch-tall and 25,000 12-inch-tall bronze Buddha statues which have been placed inside the seat of Buddha, and there are motifs to represent the God of wealth and God of compassion. There is also a Buddha statue with several heads. The sight mesmerised us and left us awestruck. As we moved closer to the statue, it seemed to get taller and taller and looked as a never-ending line of golden rocks, aligned perfectly in symmetry. It was truly unbelievable!

Our group of 37 people got an opportunity to click a number of awesome pictures and we also enjoyed the beauty of the statue to take back a splendid experience. Seated right in the middle of a huge courtyard, it looked like as if the Buddha statue is showering the blessings on the entire of Bhutan.

The inscriptions on the walls of the complex gave us knowledge about the culture of Bhutan. The whole area intrigued us so much that it felt like everything else around us was lost in space. From the vantage, we could see the valley and as we stepped towards the ground below, it seemed as if we were saying goodbye to heaven and moving into the reality, but none of us wanted to come back.

Visiting the Buddha Dordenma statue taught us about the culture, philosophy and importance of Buddhism in Bhutan. Not only was the place informative but also mesmerising and beautiful. Someone once said, beauty is everywhere. The only thing we need to do is open our eyes and see it.
