What People Fail to Tell You About Dalhousie

In today’s lifestyle, the upcoming generation often fails to appreciate the true essence of nature and the exciting experiences that come with it. As students, we sometimes forget to give ourselves a break and reconnect with our roots. For us, this trip to Dalhousie was the ultimate goal.

Dalhousie, often referred to as the “Mini Switzerland of India,” beckoned us to explore and revel in one of India’s timeless beauties. Our journey, which began with the simple intention of having fun, ended up being a rich experience of learning and adventure. The excitement commenced with a visit to Panchpula waterfall. This was just the beginning, and our first day ended with an intriguing insight into our next destination: Dalhousie and Khajjiar, twin hill stations celebrated for their cultural heritage, breathtaking snow-capped vistas, and thrilling adventure activities. To our delight, the experience surpassed all our expectations.

The following day commenced with a trek along the Dainkund trail, evoking imagery reminiscent of Bollywood movies with each step. The sight of white flowers coupled with the crisp mountain air, left us in awe. Subsequently, we journeyed to Khajjiar to partake in exhilarating activities like paragliding, zorbing, and river rafting. As the day drew to a close, we visited a temple and a church, purchased souvenirs for our families, and shared moments of togetherness during a lively dance night.

The famous Italian writer Cesare Pavese once said, “Traveling is a brutality. It forces you to trust strangers and to lose sight of all that familiar comfort of home and friends. You are constantly off balance. Nothing is yours except the essential things: air, sleep, dreams, sea, the sky – all things tending towards the eternal or what we imagine of it.” We believe that our journey was also a beautiful brutality, etched with memories of experiences, learning, thrills, and fun.
