• The best photography camp for beginners!

Why send your child for a photography camp?

The new age digital cameras prove to be a two edged sword for the beginners. On one hand, you can shoot decent photos without any training, and on the other, the complex menus and buttons refrain beginners from exploring and benefitting from the potential of their camera and truly learning the art of photography.

This camp helps the beginner photographers get an overview of the fundamentals on which serious photography is built. Merged with outdoor adventure activities, the program comprises of a series of interesting classroom sessions and fun practical hands-on sessions. Their combination is designed to provide a comprehensive technical foundation to the students and allows them to explore all the way to the artistic aspects of photography.

About the Campsite

Seated in the lap of the Himalayas, the EdTerra Photography Camp is a haven for photography buffs and nature lovers alike. Crisp and cool mountain air, wonderful light, varied topography, clear night skies, and the surrounding lush green mountains, make it a perfect abode for photographers. Apart from great light, the cool, verdant setting is ideal for the long hours of thinking, discussions and practical sessions that are essential to dwell deeper into the art of photography.

The camp offers comfortable tents for a good night’s rest, covered area for classroom sessions and group presentations, freshly cooked wholesome food, and ample scenic spots where teams can work collaboratively to create and compose creative images in their minds before capturing them through the lens of their cameras.

What will participants experience?

Fun classroom sessions, long hours in the outdoors clicking photos, tons of exciting projects, a bit of thinking and collaboration, presenting their own work and critically appreciating the works of others, mixed with a healthy dose of adventure activities. The workshop assumes that the participants have no formal grounding in photography and aims to systematically walk them through the fundamentals; be it holding a camera or understanding the relationship between shutter and aperture. EdTerra’s “Truly Educational” methodology enables them to create original captivating images that are technically sound. The students will undertake group-based projects, the output of which they present before other groups for critical appreciation. For the grand finale, each team will execute and showcase a larger audio-visual project, employing their creative and technical photography skills learnt during the camp.

Needless to say, a daily prescription of relevant adventure activities and fun games are in place to keep the campers fit and make the entire experience immersive and delightful.

What will the Photography Camper take back home?

The camp provides the building blocks that will allow your child to get up and running in the direction of an accomplished photographer. Your child will systematically understand the basics of what makes a good photograph (we call them ‘the twelve elements’), and learn how not to commit the most common mistakes that photographers make, be it exposure, composition or camera care. Expect your child to return with a headful of wonderful ideas and memories and a passion to pursue photography in a more meaningful manner. In short, this is a camp where your child is expected to internalize the basics of photography, which means covering a lot of ground, both technically and aesthetically. What more, your child will carry home an entire portfolio of excellent creative images which are both original and technically sound.
